1pm- Chris Czarnecki, chef of the Joel Palmer House, renown for the use of wild mushrooms, will demonstrate how to make the traditional dim sum dish, Shu Mai which is comprised of ground pork and local wild mushrooms.
3pm- Chef of the Dundee Bistro, Jason Stoller-Smith, will demonstrate how to make his decadent dish; Bacon wrapped, Crab Cake stuffed Tomato with Basil Aioli.
5pm- Red Ridge Farms, the first local olive oil producer in the Willamette Valley will conduct an olive oil presentation with video, as well as, an olive oil tasting from their latest press. Wine: 1pm- The Inn at Red Hills presents; Geology and Wine Tasting 101 “Geology of the Willamette Valley and how the AVA’s were formed” Speakers; Erica Landon, Sommelier of Ten 01 Restaurant, Portland, Oregon *voted by Portland Magazine as Oregon’s 2008 Sommelier of the Year Paul deLancellotti, owner deLancellotti Family Vineyards, Demeter Certified Biodynamic Vineyards and member Chehalem Mountain AVA. Erica and Paul will explain the geologic formations born out of the Missoula Floods that ultimately created the basis of our AVA (American Viticulture Areas) in the Willamette Valley wine region. After a 20 minute presentation, they will taste, with the 50 guests in the audience, wines from three AVA’s which highlight the different taste and flavor profiles of each region followed by an audience Q & A with the speakers. Riedel Stemware; Does wine really taste better in crystal from Riedel?
Willamette Valley Winery Founder and President, Jim Bernau, along with the National Sales Director Eric McLaughlin team up with Mark Bosko, Director of Wine, Press Wine Bar & Bottle Shop, will discuss the nuances of appropriate stemware when tasting wine.
The audience will participate in a hands on tasting of wine in several different Reidel glasses; the flight will be include appropriate stemware per varietal versus “off the shelf’ glassware from your kitchen cupboard that you’ve been collecting since college.
